Rameez Raja (Born 31 July 1987 in Karachi, Sindh) is a first class cricketer playing for Karachi.[1] He is a right-hand batsman and right-arm offbreak bowler. He played for the Pakistani U-19 cricket team at the 2006 U-19 Cricket World Cup.[2] Karachi Dolphins batsman Rameez Raja jnr was the top scorer in the recently concluded Faysal Bank Super Eight T-20 Cup, he made 238 runs in 5 matches with the help of 2 fiftes.[3]

London, July 31: Pakistan’s chief selector Mohsin Khan believes that 24-year-old batsman Rameez Raja has an opportunity to shine during next month’s tour of Zimbabwe consisting ofthree one day internationals, two Twenty20 fixtures and a solitary test match.

In an interview to Pakpassion.net, Khan said: “Rameez is a batsman who has really caught the eye of all of the selection committee and, he has shown great potential in all formats.”

“We felt that the tour of Zimbabwe was the ideal time to give Rameez a chance in international cricket. He has shown great promise at junior level and in domestic cricket, so now we are saying to him, this is your opportunity to shine on the biggest stage, so show us and the world what you have,” Khan added.

“ Rameez is a cricketer who also fields well and this is something that my colleagues in the selection committee and I have really focussed upon. Modern day cricket is not just about batting and bowling skills, but also about being able to field well and we want the players that we bring into the squad to be good fielders too,” Khan added

Raja is in the 16-man squad selected for the Zimbabwe tour after some dashing displays in the recent Faysal Bank Super Eights Twenty over tournament for Karachi Dolphins.

Khan feels that Rameez has enough potential to become a regular in all formats.
