The Rayat Institute of Engineering and Information Technology (RIEIT) is an engineering institute located 6 km from Rupnagar in Punjab, India, on the Chandigarh-Ropar-Jalandhar Highway. It offers engineering studies at the bachelors and masters levels. It is part of the Rayat Bhara group of colleges[1]

The Rayat Institute of Engineering and Information Technology was established in 2001. The courses offered by the institute are approved by AICTE. The institute is affiliated to the Punjab Technical University. It occupies an area of 250 acres (1.0 km2).
At the time of inception three B.Tech. courses in the areas of Computer Science and Engineering, Electronics and Communication Engineering and Information Technology were introduced. Subsequently, B.Tech. courses in Mechanical Engineering and Electrical Engineering and M.Tech. courses in Computer Science and Engineering, Electronics and Communication Engineering and Mechanical Engineering were added. Presently there are three post-graduate courses leading to Masters of Engineering degree and five undergraduate courses leading to Bachelor of Engineering degree.

The Institute is situated within the Rayat Technology Centre of Excellence, Ropar, and is located 6 km from Ropar city on Chandigarh-Ropar-Jalandhar Highway.

The campus extends over 250 acres (1.0 km2), close to the Shivalik hills. The campus is divided into zones for hostels, Main College Buildings, Administration Block, Residential Complex for staff and faculty and a shopping centre. The college has tutorial rooms, drawing halls, library, computer centre, reading rooms, workshops and laboratories. The Institute has playgrounds, badminton courts, basketball courts, gymnasium,a students centre and facilities like hostels, transport, medical care centre. There is branch of Indian Bank and Axis Bank ATM facility in the campus. Hostel facilities for men and women are available in the campus.

The Training and Placement Department is staffed with full-time placement professionals. It offers students an employment placement service though securing of positions cannot be guaranteed. Every avenue is pursued to assist students in obtaining employment.

Minerva is a national level annual cultural and technical symposium organized by students of the Rayat Institute of Engineering and Information Technology. Considered to be one of the biggest college festivals of North India, it attracts many students from colleges across north India. Events include quizzes, workshops, game shows, informal events, fashion show, dance show and rock night. For the two days that the fête lasts all studies are suspended and a carnival like mood is set up.

- Admissions to Bachelor of Engineering courses are made through the:
- Punjab Technical University (85% of seats for students belongs to Punjab through PTU Central Counseling based on AIEEE Score), conducted by All India Engineering Entrance Examination.
- 15% of the seats is reserved for the students of other states to be admitted through All India Engineering Entrance Examination (AIEEE).
