Razole or Rajolu is a village in East Godavari district of Andhra Pradesh, India.[2] The village is surrounded by the river Vashishta (Godavari) and is known for its coconut and palm trees. Several Tollywood directors have used the region around Razole as a backdrop for films, including Ladies Tailor, Chanti, Kabaddi Kabaddi, and Vinayakudu. The resort of Dindi is located on the banks of the Godavari.

Notables[edit]

This village is the birthplace of Sheri. B. Suryanarayana Murthy Garu, the renowned journalist, poet, six-term Parliamentarian (only MP from the south) and Health Minister in the Nehru cabinet. Novelist Yandamuri Veerendranath, actor Anjali, actor Krishnudu, Shanmuk Ever, directors Sukumar, Akrosh, Prakash Tholeti, prominent businessperson Kishore Dandu and NCC Founder AVS Raju are from this area.

Religion[edit]

There are famous pilgrim locations around Razole, such as Appanapalli and Antarvedhi. Appanapalli is famous for the Lord Bala Balaji Temple. This was the first temple to give free meals to the devotees. Antarvedhi is famous for the Lakshmi Narasimha Temple and the Antarvedhi Teertham festival is celebrated annually.

Temples include Lord Balaji Old and Lord Balaji New Temple, Lord Siva Temple in the center of the village, and Kanakadurgamma Temple and Grama Devatha Temple in Central Market.

Sri Kapotheswara swamy temple is a historical temple in KADALI village. Main deity is Swayambu Siva lingam known as Kapotheeswara Swamy. Sri jagadguru Adi sankaracharya visited the temple and he has installed "Sri chakra sahitha Sri Bala thripura sundari devi".The place is considered as "Dakshina Kasi", because even here there is a burial ground near the temple, like Kasi kshetram.

Education[edit]

Primary and upper primary schools and a public college are in Razole.

Health care[edit]

There are several famous private medical hospitals in Razole including Raju Heart Hospital, Gopala Krishna ENT and Eye Hospital. There is also a public hospital which is situated near the central market.

Razole is one of the 294 Assembly Constituencies in Andhra Pradesh. The current MLA is Gollapalli Suryarao from Telugu Desam Party.
