Recto LRT Station is a station on the Manila LRT Purple Line (MRT-2). Recto station is one of the many elevated stations that can be found on the line. The station is located in Santa Cruz in Manila. The station is named after C.M. Recto Avenue, where the station sits above it. The avenue in turn is named after Claro M. Recto, a famous politician.

Recto station is the western terminus of MRT-2 and as such is the first station for trains headed to Santolan and the last station for trains headed from Santolan.

Due to its proximity to Doroteo José station, the station is near the same landmarks as Doroteo Jose station, such as the Manila City Jail, the Fabella Memorial Hospital, and Far Eastern University.

[edit] Transportation links

True to its name, Recto station is a major transportation hub. Buses, jeepneys and cycle rickshaws all stop at a transportation terminal that lies under the Doroteo Jose-Recto walkway. The terminal lies on C.M. Recto Avenue.

Recto station serves as the transfer point for commuters riding the Yellow Line to either Baclaran or Roosevelt via a crossway to Doroteo Jose station.

[edit] Platform Screen Doors

As with most of the above-ground stations built in the past along the Purple Line, it was initially built without Platform Screen Doors that prevent commuters from falling onto the train tracks. Installations of the half-height screen doors started on 20 June 2011. On 31 August 2011, all of the screen doors have been installed and began operating, marking the completion of the installation of all the Platform Screen Doors along the Purple LRT Line.
