Redspot Sixt Rent a Car is a rental car company with its head office in Sydney, Australia. Redspot was founded by Dan Mekler in 1989. It has grown from 1 Sydney location to cover most locations in Australia. In 2002, Redspot Car Rentals acquired Australian Rent A Car and took possession of its national locations. Redspot is owned by Waterloo Car Centre Pty Ltd. Redspot was an affiliate of US based Advantage Rent A Car and serviced all its bookings until Advantage rent a cars merger with Hertz Rent-a-Car in 2008. In 2012 Redspot formed an strategic alliance with Sixt Rent A Car Germany, as its Australian car rental supplier. A rebranding exercise began in mid-2012 to a joint name cooperation of Redspot Sixt.
