René Echevarria is an American-Cuban[1] screenwriter and film producer.

[edit] Screenwriter career
Echevarria began his career as an amateur screenwriter submitting unsolicited scripts to the producers of Star Trek: The Next Generation. After using a few of his stories, they hired him as a writer. He then became a regular contributor to Star Trek: Deep Space Nine. He has written for Star Trek: The Next Generation and Star Trek: Deep Space Nine as well as the TV series Now and Again, Castle, Dark Angel and Medium, and is co-creator and writer of The 4400. He also co-writes Teen Wolf. He is now a contributing writer to the TV series Terra Nova.

Echevarria can be seen in the background of the scene set at Vic Fontaine's Lounge in the final episode of Star Trek: Deep Space Nine, "What You Leave Behind".
