Requests for page protection
Shortcuts:

This page is for requesting that a page, image or template be fully protected, create protected (salted), semi-protected, move-protected, or unprotected. Please read up on the protection policy. Full protection is used to stop edit warring between multiple users or to prevent vandalism to high-risk templates; semi-protection is usually used only to prevent IP and new user vandalism (see the rough guide to semi-protection); and move protection is used to stop pagemove revert wars.

After a page has been protected, the protection is listed in the page history and logs with a short description indicating why it was protected, and the article is listed on Special:Protectedpages. Further discussion should take place on the Talk page of the article. In the case of full protection due to edit warring, admins do not revert back to specific versions of the page, except to get rid of obvious vandalism.

Instructions

If you would like to request a page to be protected or unprotected, please follow the following steps:

  1. If you are requesting unprotection, it is almost always a good idea to ask the protecting admin first before listing a page here.
  2. Add a level 4 header (i.e. ==== {{lx|Example}} ====, where "x" stands for the namespace) at the TOP of either the protection or unprotection list and place one of the templates from the table below within the header. Please make sure you have spelled the name of the article properly; a common error stems from mistaken requests for the protection of redirects, particularly capitalised ones.
  3. If you are requesting protection, place the type of request (full protection, semi-protection, move protection) and a brief reason for your request below your header.
  4. Please do not add arbitrary requests for a protection expiry time to your request, or request indefinite protection arbitrarily.
    • If there is a reason for a page to be protected for a certain amount of time, such as protecting a usertalk page until the user is unblocked, please make this clear.
    • If you are requesting indefinite semi-protection, be aware that it is only applied to articles with endemic and endless vandalism problems which multiple increasing periods of temporary semi-protection have failed to stop.
    • Note that different expiry times can now be set for edit and move-protections, so an article can, for example, be semi-edit-protected for a week and full-move-protected indefinitely.
  5. Sign your request with four tildes ~~~~ and save.
  • Note: this is not a venue for continuing an argument from elsewhere. If a request contains excessive arguing, is being used for edit-warring or content disputes, contains personal attacks or uncivil comments, or any other unrelated discussion, it will be removed from this page.

[edit] King of Hearts (Cassie song) (edit|talk|history|links|watch|logs)

[edit] Wikipedia talk:Articles for creation/sandbox (edit|project page|history|links|watch|logs)

Creation protection: This page should be deleted and salted, because the page is unnecessary, and it's repeatedly recreated when user page drafts located in users' sandboxes are moved to Wikipedia talk:Articles for creation/sandbox. -- SLV100 (talk) 05:42, 26 February 2012 (UTC)

[edit] Rob Delaney (comedian) (edit|talk|history|links|watch|logs)

Temporary semi-protection: Persistent vandalism from multiple IPs--please restore to decent version when protecting. 99.136.255.180 (talk) 04:40, 26 February 2012 (UTC)

[edit] Penn State sex abuse scandal (edit|talk|history|links|watch|logs)

[edit] Dance Moms (edit|talk|history|links|watch|logs)

Semi-protection: Has been semi-protected twice this month already for a total of 3 weeks and vandalism just starts back up immediately after protection is lifted. I request semi-protection for a much longer period of time to help combat the dozen or so daily acts of vandalism that inevitably occurs whenever this article is not protected. For An Angel (talk) 02:21, 26 February 2012 (UTC)

[edit] Kendall Hart Slater (edit|talk|history|links|watch|logs)

Indefinite full protection: This redirect page (Kendall Hart Slater) will be prone to vandalism, such as cut-and-paste edit, which is not happening yet. George Ho (talk) 01:00, 26 February 2012 (UTC)

[edit] United States presidential election, 2016 (edit|talk|history|links|watch|logs)

[edit] Cortisone (edit|talk|history|links|watch|logs)

Semi-protection: An IP-hopping anonymous editor has been edit warring across a series of articles inserting WP:OR and COPYVIOs against consensus without contributing to talk page discussions. This article was among those (others being: Progesterone, Soybean, Soy protein, Combined oral contraceptive pill, Percy Lavon Julian) that were to be semi-protected for a month yesterday. Soybean oil has also been a target of the IP-hopping anonymous editor and should also be semi-protected. Lynn4 (talk) 21:57, 25 February 2012 (UTC)

Semi-protected for a period of 1 month. After 1 month the page will be automatically unprotected. Courcelles 23:41, 25 February 2012 (UTC)

[edit] Antoni Gaudí (edit|talk|history|links|watch|logs)

Indefinite semi-protection This article is constantly vandalised since years, its edit history is an useless mess of history of vandalism, and the job of constantly reverting vandalism distracts editors from doing improvements elsewhere. Rarely have been IP edits useful on this page. It has been protected previously in 2008, 2009, 2010 for shorter periods, including with pending changes, but once unprotected the same pattern of persistent vandalism returns. Edit-warring about Gaudí's characterisation as "Spanish Catalan" and vandalism by kids excited of his architecture are unlikely to cease in the near future. The article has been recently lifted to GA class and now the risk is of reducing the current quality and continuing to waste editor time. --ELEKHHT 19:53, 25 February 2012 (UTC)

Semi-protected for a period of 3 months. After 3 months the page will be automatically unprotected. Courcelles 23:25, 25 February 2012 (UTC)

[edit] Rasheed Wallace (edit|talk|history|links|watch|logs)

Semi-protection Good faith, but premature edits about him signing with the Lakers; it's just rumors at this point. Zagalejo^^^ 19:25, 25 February 2012 (UTC)

Semi-protected for a period of 96 hours. After 96 hours the page will be automatically unprotected. Courcelles 23:26, 25 February 2012 (UTC)

[edit] Current requests for unprotection

Shortcuts:

If you simply want to make spelling corrections or add information to a protected page that is not disputed, and you are not involved in any disputes there, consider simply adding {{Editprotected}} to the article's talk page, along with an explanation of what you want to add to the page. See the list of current {{Editprotected}} requests.

If you want an existing page unprotected, please try to ask the protecting admin first before making a request here.

Check here if you cannot find your request. Only recently answered requests are still listed here.

[edit] Current requests for edits to a protected page

Shortcut:
Ideally requests should be made on the article talk page rather than here
  • Unless the talk page itself is protected, you may instead add {{Editprotected}}, {{Editsemiprotected}} or {{Request edit}} to the article's talk page if you would like to make a change rather than requesting it here.
  • If the discussion page and the article are both locked, this project page is the right place to request an edit. If you can, please use the {{la|article name}} template to describe the article you wish changed at the start of your request.

[edit] List of most populous cities in India (edit|talk|history|links|watch|logs)

[edit] Alexandra Burke discography (edit|talk|history|links|watch|logs)

Semi-protection Continued vandalism - The article has been continually vandalised by IP addresses. The vandals have been constantly changing chart positions in both singles, featured singles and albums. I have edited back in all the correct information from an earlier version of the article and double checked with the sources. This page has been semi-protected temporarily before and we had no vandalism during this time. I request it is permanently semi-protected to stop the IP vandalism completely. Bbbnbbb (talk) 11:01, 25 February 2012 (UTC)

Semi-protected indefinitely. Qwyrxian (talk) 13:44, 25 February 2012 (UTC)

[edit] Ghana (edit|talk|history|links|watch|logs)

Temporary semi-protection: Persistent vandalism – This article is getting lots of IP vandalsims with abusive and racist remarks of insertions of texts, and very unhelpful edits recently, there is now constant need of reverting edits from watchers of the Ghana article on a regular basis. Temporary semi-protection: Constant unsourced edits recently. ETLamborghini (talk) 09:49, 25 February 2012 (UTC)

Semi-protected a bit over-heated, giving it 3 days to cool off but I don't see a significant long term pattern that would be impossible to manage through discussion. -- (talk) 13:54, 25 February 2012 (UTC)

[edit] Wikipedia:Wikiquette assistance (edit|talk|history|links|watch|logs)

Temporary semi-protection: ip with changing address edit warring Nobody Ent 02:48, 25 February 2012 (UTC)

Declined It looks like the edit warring and improper use of the page ended earlier; this is really not a page we want to protect unless absolutely necessary. If they return, try bringing the issue to WP:ANI, because it's something you'll want to stop immediately and RFPP is likely too slow in most cases. Qwyrxian (talk) 13:48, 25 February 2012 (UTC)
