The Metropolitan Transportation Authority (New York) (MTA) has tested single buses from time to time, usually on loan from the manufacturer.

Another notable design feature is a zero-emission propulsion system. The bus was tested in Brooklyn and it has been returned to Northrop Grumman.

  • 1292 was returned to Orion.
  • 1294 was returned to Orion to be rebuilt and retrofitted with lithium ion batteries. In 2008, it was demoed by OC Transpo. In late 2009, it was sold to Roosevelt Island Operating Corporation, becoming bus #7.
  • 1295 was returned to Orion to be retrofitted with lithium ion batteries. In 2007, it was demoed by OC Transpo and was later displayed at the CUTA Trans-Expo. In 2009, it was sold to MTB Transit Solutions.
