Rhee Bros., Inc. (Korean: 리브라더스)[1] is involved in Asian food wholesale and distribution. It sells over 10,000 Asian food products covering every major Asian cuisine, including Korean, Chinese, Japanese, Vietnamese, Thai, and Filipino.[1] Along with its distribution partners, Rhee Bros sells to over 1600 retail and foodservice accounts throughout the US and to over 30 countries. Rhee Bros is currently located in Hanover, MD.
Rhee Bros was founded in 1976 by Syngman (Steve) Rhee, along with his three brothers, who started in a small warehouse in Silver Spring, MD. Over the years, they grew the business to become the largest Korean food distributor and one of the largest Asian food distributors in the US.
In 1989, Rhee Bros began a retail affiliate relationship to sell Rhee Bros' products at Lotte Plaza, an Asian supermarket chain in the Washington/Baltimore metropolitan area. A retail relationship with Assi Plaza, which has stores across the country, followed. Today, both chains have a combined eleven stores throughout the US.
Rhee Bros is well known for being a “one stop source” for Asian food.[citation needed] It carries a wide array of both private and national brands from every major Asian nationality. It’s most recognized private brand is the Assi brand. In total, Rhee Bros has 14 private brands covering products from rice to seafood and from Japanese food to Thai food.[citation needed]
