Richard Sánchez (born April 5, 1994) is a Mexican footballer who plays as a goalkeeper for Tigres UANL of the Liga MX.

Career[edit]

Youth[edit]

Born in Mission Hills, California, Sánchez moved to Dallas, Texas and started playing with Texas Football Club before joining the Atlético Madrid in Spain.[1] In 2009, Sánchez moved back to Dallas and signed with the FC Dallas Academy.[1]

FC Dallas[edit]

On February 18, 2011 it was announced that Sánchez had signed a professional contract with FC Dallas on Major League Soccer, becoming their sixth homegrown player.[1] On November 7, 2012, after spending time with the Dallas reserve team, Sánchez signed an extension to his contract, lasting till 2015.[2]

Fort Lauderdale Strikers (loan)[edit]

On July 23, 2013 it was announced that Sánchez would go on loan to the Fort Lauderdale Strikers of the North American Soccer League for the remainder of the season.[3] On 3 August 2013 Sánchez made his professional debut for the Strikers against the New York Cosmos.[4] Sanchez started all 14 games in goal for the Strikers in the Fall season, keeping three clean sheets.

Tigres UANL[edit]

On June 24, 2014, it was announced that Sánchez was transferred to Tigres UANL. He made his debut coming in as a substitute in a friendly against San Antonio Scorpions.
