Miami University's business school was endowed in 1991 by Richard T. Farmer, one of the most wealthy men in Ohio and the chairman of the board of the Cintas. In 2005, Richard and Joyce Farmer continued their support with a $30 million gift as namesake for the new Farmer School of Business building completed in 2009, Miami's bicentennial year.

Remarkably, over 40% of graduates report study overseas in a wide variety of exchange agreements with universities in England, France, Austria, Hungary, Czech Republic, China, South Korea, Japan, Taiwan, Thailand, India, Russia, and Latin America or on Miami's Luxembourg campus.
Miami University's reputation attracts over 300 employers annually. The Fortune 500 and Big Four accounting firms are well represented among a host of other leading public and private companies. As evidence of the quality of recruiting, 99.5% of responding Farmer School graduates reported securing full-time employment within months of graduation or continuing on to graduate or professional school.
