Rob Skipper & The Musical Differences (also known as just 'The Musical Differences') are a British band based in London formed in late 2008 by Rob Skipper, ex lead singer/guitarist/fiddler of North London Indie pop group The Holloways.
They were formed as a side-project to the Holloways but since Skipper's departure from the Holloways in December 2008, they became a full-time act. Skipper described the group as "The 'Musical Differences' are, well, different to the Holloways in various ways. More rootsy, folky, perhaps a little more wistful, who knows..."[1]
Skipper put the group together in late summer 2008 after being offered the support-slot for Vincent Vincent and the Villains final gig at 93 Feet East venue.[2] For the gig Skipper put together a backing band featuring Oisin Leech (of The 747s / The Lost Brothers) on rhythm guitar/backing vocals and current members Susannah Austin and Slinky Sunbeam.
The name 'The Musical Differences' was chosen by Skipper as an ironic poke at the age-old cliche of bands splitting up due to 'musical differences' and his own wish to form a side project aside from the musical norm of the Holloways.

[edit] Recordings
They recently finished their first recording session in LA with Madness/Elvis Costello producer Clive Langer and Larrikin Love/ Brakes producer Iain Gore. [3]
[edit] Celebrity Patronage
In Feb 2009 Skipper and Slinky Sunbeam were pictured in Grazia magazine leaving the North London home of Ronnie Wood, Guitarist of The Rolling Stones. Wood was heard shouting to paparazzi "Meet my new band, The Musical Differences!".[4]
Wood visited the band at their first recording session at Solid Line studios in Los Angeles in March/April 2009 and recorded some improvised slide guitar on a song.
