RoboForm (formerly "AI RoboForm") is a password management and web form filling program that automates password entering and form filling that was developed by Siber Systems, Inc. It is available for many web browsers, including Internet Explorer (and other Trident-based browsers), Firefox, Opera, Safari and Google Chrome. It also has support for mobile devices such as iOS, Android and Windows Phone. RoboForm was named PC Magazine Editor's Choice, and CNET Download.com's Software of the Year.
One can buy a subscription to Roboform Everywhere which puts the user's login and password information in the cloud and allows secure access to them from any computer or mobile device.
One of Roboform's functions is to store passwords and login info. It uses a "passcard" system in which users can save user name, passwords, and website information into a card that is protected by a master password, which becomes the only password that the user must remember. The storing of the website information protects against phishing attacks since users cannot fill out their info on a fake website.
Users can also have "Identities" that store personal and sensitive financial information such as credit cards, driver's license info, and Social Security numbers, that can filled out automatically on command.
Roboform can also generate random passwords of any length and any combination to auto-fill out and save to a passcard.
Roboform for desktop permits the user only one license to install one system.
RoboForm Everywhere is an annual subscription service that offers users access to multiple copies of RoboForm 7 for all of their computers and mobile devices for a single license fee.
Roboform2Go is an portable version of the program for use in USB flash drives. The program will be loaded when the user inserts the flash drive into a Windows computer and unloaded when the stick is removed. Siber Systems initially had support for the U3 portable system but dropped it when U3 was no longer supported.
When Siber Systems first released Roboform, they had lifetime free upgrades. In 2004, they released a Roboform Pro version and had limitations on the free version. In December 2010, they changed the policy for their new Roboform 7 version and purged from their website all mention of their previously-published free upgrades policy. See also Free Version Upgrades. Siber Systems also removed the option to export the user data with the full URL, making it harder to export to a number of competing password managers. They began offering two versions, a desktop version licensed for one computer only and the aforementioned Roboform Everywhere for every computer which is a yearly subscription fee. The functionality of the previous Roboform version 6 will gradually cease as Roboform browser plug-ins are "frozen": not updated to support new browser versions.
Following this controversy, Roboform's accreditation with the Better Business Bureau (BBB) Accreditation Standards was revoked on June 30, 2011 due to a failure to respond to and resolve complaints.
