The Hives at Rock en Seine 2007

The Rock en Seine festival is a two or three-day rock music festival, held at Domaine National de Saint-Cloud, the Château de Saint-Cloud's park, west of Paris, inside the garden designed by André Le Nôtre.

Name[edit]

The name is a pun, based on exactly the same pronunciation in French of the words "scène" meaning stage and Seine (the river separating Saint-Cloud from Central Paris after which the Hauts-de-Seine département is called).

Previous years[edit]

  • 2003 : First year of Rock en Seine, 2 stages, 10 bands. It was a very warm year for the festival this year. It only took place over one day, August 27.
  • 2004 : For the second year, Rock en Seine became a two day festival, which meant more bands and better weather than 2003.
  • 2005 : Third year, three stages and a campsite inside the festival, 46 000 spectators.
  • 2006 : Fourth year, larger campsite, one more mini scene, many side events, 57 000 spectators.
  • 2007 : Fifth year, extension to three days, even more bands.
  • 2008 : 80 000 spectators in three days.
  • 2009 : 90 000 spectators in three days.
  • 2010 : 105 000 spectators in three days.
  • 2011 : 108 000 spectators in three days.

The venue[edit]

The festival takes place in the down of the Park of "Domaine national de Saint-Cloud", a historical place at the gates of Paris, and 5 minutes from the nearest subway station métro Boulogne - Pont de Saint-Cloud.

The park and the garden, was designed by Le Nôtre in the 17th century, and it's the first park to be classed as a Monument historique in 1994. It is a 4.6 km² park, and there are gardens and forest with basins, thickets, cascades and statues.
