Roy Morales is a Harris County, Texas school board trustee and a retired air force lieutenant colonel.[1] He was a Republican candidate in the 2009 Houston Mayoral Election, which he lost to Annise Parker.[2]

[edit] Early life and career

Roy Morales earned a B.A. in psychology from the University of Texas at Dallas and a B.S. in computer science from Chapman University. He also earned a M.S. degree in Space Operations from the Air Force Institute of Technology.[3]

Morales’s work with the United States Air Force included joint operations with NASA. Roy served as Operations Director for the Space Shuttle Operations Division in California. He directed mission control activities in support of Space Shuttle missions and trained with astronauts on behalf of the Department of Defense’s national defense priorities.[3]

Roy implemented the City of Houston Emergency Center. He also led the Houston Metropolitan Area radio project which allows government agencies to communicate with each other. He was the city's liaison to the National Football League to ensure the city's radio, voice, and data communications during Super Bowl 38.

Morales was elected in 2006 as a Harris County School Trustee. His responsibilities include setting the tax rate and approving the budget. He chairs the Audit Committee and Head Start Task Force Committee.

Morales is also a business owner who focuses on information and alternative energy technology and crisis management. He is currently developing emergency plans for international hotel corporations.

Morales ran for Mayor of Houston in 2009.[4] He ran against Peter Brown, Annise Parker, and Gene Locke. He lost to Annise Parker.

Roy is the father of four grown children and attends Holy Rosary Catholic Church in Houston, Texas.[3]
