Pete Cortlandt[edit]

(Jack McKillop, 1997–1999; Casey Gunther, 1999–2002; Daniel Kennedy 2008-2009; Robert Scott Wilson 2013- )

In 1997, Jack McKillop was cast as Peter, and remained with the series until 1999. At that point, the role was recast with Casey Gunther, who remained with the series until 2002. From 2002 to 2003, the role was portrayed by Mitchel David Federan. On July 11, 2008, Daniel Kennedy joined the cast of All My Children on a recurring basis as Peter.[2] Kennedy remained with the series until October 30, 2009. Kennedy cited then head-writer Charles Pratt, Jr.'s disinterest with character development as the reason for his termination.[3] In February 2013, it was announced that the role of Peter had been recast with model Robert Scott Wilson, as part of online development company Prospect Park's intended reboot of the series.[4][5] Wilson made his debut on the reboot's premiere episode on April 29, 2013.[6][7][8]

Born to Palmer and Opal Cortlandt on Christmas Eve 1992, Peter's conception and birth were surrounded in controversy. Opal, who had thought that she was going through menopause, was stunned to discover that she was pregnant. As well, Palmer had thought her pregnancy came about through an extramarital affair, as he had long been convinced that he was sterile following a horse riding accident many years earlier. A DNA test eventually resolved the issue of Peter's paternity. Over the years, Peter proved to be troublesome for his myriad of nannies, one of whom was Kendall Hart. Eventually, Peter was sent away to boarding school. In July 2008, Peter returned to Pine Valley, and began to reconnect with childhood friend Colby Chandler, with whom he soon realized he was falling in love. However, Colby failed to reciprocate those feelings. Peter was eventually dragged into a deal with Palmer's long-time enemy, Adam Chandler, to taint Fusion Cosmetics' new perfume, Bella, with a chemical that would subject its users to an allergic reaction. Adam hoped that the resulting negative publicity would make Fusion more vulnerable to a hostile takeover. Despite his best efforts, Peter's relationship with Colby never blossomed into anything more, and by late 2009, he had moved to Switzerland, where he had allegedly become enamored with a "snow bunny". In April 2013, Peter returns to Pine Valley for a visit with Opal, who wants him to resurrect the floundering Cortlandt Electronics from complete ruin. Peter, who had dropped out of Stanford to launch his own company, CortApps, is reluctant to remain in Pine Valley longterm, but changes his mind following a chance encounter with Celia Fitzgerald.

Wilson's performance has received praise from critics.[9] Omar White-Nobles of TVSource Magazine referred to Pete and Celia's relationship as a high point for the series, noting "Jordan Lane Price and Rob Wilson have good, natural chemistry. I could see them turning into something big."[10]

(Linda Dano,November 15, 1999 to March 9, 2000 [on All My Children])

Mother of Skye Chandler Quartermaine daughter of Myrtle Fargate After getting a new lead, Rae headed to Pine Valley to continue her search. Rae took a room at Myrtle Fargate's boarding house and revealed that she was looking for Daniel in the hope he could lead her to the daughter that had been taken from her at childbirth. This hit Myrtle hard as she had given up a baby girl for adoption years ago. Rae also teamed up with Tad and Dixie Martin in an effort to expose a shady lawyer involved in black market baby adoptions, but their sting operation uncovered nothing useful and Rae feared her search would never be successful.

Rae went to the Fannie Battle Home for Unwed Mothers and was surprised to find Myrtle there. Myrtle covered her real reasons for being there and both women learned that all birth records from the home had been written in a Bible. Unfortunately, the desk containing the Bible had been auctioned off. Myrtle and Rae returned home and Myrtle soon made the startling revelation that Rae was the daughter she had given up for adoption. After Rae's shock wore off, she and Myrtle shared a loving reunion and their close bond deepened.

Hoping the information contained in the Bible could lead her to her long-lost daughter, Rae set out to locate it. Rae's search took her to the town of Port Charles and with the help of her friend Tony Jones, Rae found the Bible she had been looking for. Unfortunately, Daniel had gotten there first and replaced the bible page with a note telling Rae to go back to Llanview. When she got back there, Daniel kept sending her messages sending her places to find her daughter, but her daughter was never there. When Rae finally came face to face with Daniel, Sykes arrested him and put him in jail.

Since there were no charges to hold him on, Daniel had to be let free. He called Max Holden, Skye Chandler, John Sykes, Rae and Kevin to Crossroads Bar and told them he had a secret he would tell them, for a price. But he never got to reveal it because the hit man that had been after him found him and sprayed the room with bullets. Daniel was wounded and taken to the hospital. Rae followed him there and demanded he tell her who her daughter was. He stunned her by claiming her child had been a son and he was Max Holden. Rae left the room briefly and when she and John returned, Daniel was gone, never to be seen again.

With Renee's help, Rae got a sample of Max's blood and tested it, he was not her son. Then Sophia found a piece of paper lying on the ground near Grace Davidson's grave. She gave it to John Sykes and it turned out to be the missing Bible page, which revealed that Skye Chandler was Rae's daughter and she had been adopted by Althea and Adam Chandler. Rae's relationship with Skye was so bad that Rae decided it would be best if Skye never know the truth.

Unfortunately, Todd Manning had other plans. He found out the truth about Skye and announced at his non-wedding to Blair that Rae is Skye's mothers to get revenge on Skye. Skye did not take the news very well and called Adam to come to Llanview. Rae was there when Adam told Skye that Althea had adopted her and since he was away on a long business trip at the time, he hadn't learned about it until a few years ago. Skye was devastated and Rae decided the best thing to do was back off and give Skye some time to deal with the news. Skye and Rae eventually established a relationship. In 2008, Rae was saddened to learn of the passing of her mother, Myrtle Fargate. Rae was in London and, for some reason, unable to return to Pine Valley for Myrtle's memorial service. She did, however, arrange to go to church at the same time so that she could be there in spirit.

The ordeal led the two to a romance. Rebecca gave birth to Jesse's daughter, Natalia. For two decades, they were a family. When news came that Jesse's son, Frank Hubbard, was near death in Pine Valley, Rebecca told Jesse to go to his side. Rebecca made it clear he had no obligations to her and Natalia. She knew Jesse's happiness lay with his Angie and Frankie. Rebecca was diagnosed with a brain tumor. She decided not to seek treatment. Natalia ran away from home to tell her father about Rebecca's condition. While in Pine Valley, Natalia was injured during a tornado. Jesse finally told Angie about Rebecca and Natalia. When Rebecca came to Pine Valley to retrieve her daughter, her tumor began to affect her health. She signed a DNR release with Angie only days before falling into a coma.
