Ryūgasaki (龍ヶ崎市 Ryūgasaki-shi?) is a city located in Ibaraki, Japan.

As of April 1, 2011, the city has an estimated population of 79,269, with household number being 30,470, and a population density of 1,000/km2 (2,600/sq mi). The total area is 78.20 km2 (30.19 sq mi).

Ryugasaki is sometimes considered part of the Greater Tokyo Area. Many residents commute to central Tokyo. The city is the hometown of the JFL semi-pro team, Ryutsu Keizai University.

The city was founded on March 20, 1954. And current mayor is Kazuo Nakayama, who elected by Ryugasaki mayor election on December 2009.[citation needed]

The city of symbol bird is Swan, symbol tree is Pinus, and symbol flower is Platycodon grandiflorus[citation needed]

Ryugasaki city has well-known crystal glass factory. The founder received a prize for his work in international exhibition in Paris of 1937. At present, these crystal glasses are used in the Imperial Palace.[citation needed]

New Central Airlines, a commuter airline, is headquartered in the city, on the grounds of Ryūgasaki Airfield.[1][2]
