S-4 (Sector Four) is an alleged military base said to be near Papoose Lake, supposedly hidden under the Papoose Range within Nevada's Nellis Air Force Range (now referred to as NTTR) at Area 51. The site is protected from all view, as it is located within a valley. The USAF owns all surrounding land and is protected by the same laws as Area 51, so it is near impossible to get a public glimpse of such a facility or its surrounding areas. The site came to public attention in 1989 when Bob Lazar stated that he had worked there studying and reverse-engineering alien aircraft or UFOs.
[edit] S-4 and The MJ-12 Documents
The Federal Bureau of Investigation found the "Majestic 12" (MJ-12) documents, which contain a mention of "S-4 Area 51", to be "completely bogus" in a recent[when?] investigation.[1] However, the MJ-12 documents released by the FBI were severely censored. "Bogus" can be found written on a number of the pages, while others leave names, words, phrases, and entire paragraphs striked out. There have been a number of individuals who have spoken publicly about the documents and attest to their reality, one of those individuals being UFO researcher Robert M. Wood.[2]
[edit] In Fiction
Sector 4 (S4) was also the title and subject of the 2009 sci-fi spoof, "S4", in which the U.S. government attempted to create alien hybrid super warriors by impregnating combat marines.[3]
