Samsung R&D Institute Bangladesh Ltd. (SRBD) is the 12th and the newest Research & Development center of Samsung Electronics Co. Ltd., situated in Gulshan, Dhaka. Its operation started in June, 2010 and officially inaugurated in February 2011. It is also the first R&D hub of a multinational company in Bangladesh.

SRBD started off with more than a hundred intellects in early 2011 with a plan to expand its workforce into a thousand engineers by 2013. This center develops software for mobile devices marketed in Asia, Africa and Australia. It also focuses on advanced technologies and conducts other IT researches.

According to its management policy, SRBD is going to use the immense potential of Bangladeshi IT industry and software engineers. This center will have a synergy effect as the company will train the engineers & market its products in the region.

The company changed its name from Samsung Bangladesh R&D Center Ltd. (SBRC) to Samsung R&D Institute Bangladesh Ltd. (SRBD) on 1st January 2013.
