STANANDLOU (S+L) is an independently owned advertising agency with its headquarters located in Houston, Texas.[1] It was founded in 1988 by Stan Mays and Lou Congelio. it is one of the largest independently-owned advertising agencies in Houston.

In 1990, the Hollywood Radio and Television Society named STANANDLOU's television commercial for Frontier City, "THE NIGHTMARE," one of the top 10 television commercials in the world during the International Broadcasting Awards in Hollywood, CA.

In 1996, co-founder Lou Congelio bought out his partner, Stan Mays, and became 100% owner of STANANDLOU.

In 2002, Lou Congelio of STANANDLOU, was presented the "Cleveland Amory Humanitarian of the Year Award" by the Fund for Animals and the Spay-Neuter Assistance Program for his work in the animal protection.[2]

In 2005, STANANDLOU was awarded an EMMY by the National Academy of Television Arts & Sciences for public service television announcements promoting the safe sterilization of homeless animals.[3][4]

In 2005, Lou Congelio of STANANDLOU Marketing/Advertising founded Only in Houston, a committee of the American Advertising Federation created to promote the creative forces working in Houston and to keep work in Houston.[5]

In 2006, STANANDLOU launched [1] and [2], the first website and blog created by a person with neurofibromatosis to provide education, comfort, research, news and a forum for the millions of people affected by NF.

In 2008, Michelle Reed purchased 50% of the company and became equal partner with Lou Congelio.

STANANDLOU experienced rapid growth in the mid 1990s and early 2000s, with the addition of national clients, Scripps Clinic, Marble Slab Creamery and Premier Parks, owners of Six Flags Theme Parks. The agency achieved notoriety on the strength of work for Tootsies, the Austin Huns, Boaka Bar and, pro bono client,the Just Ask Foundation featuring Reggie Bibbs.

The agency’s client list includes STRYKER, Buc-ee's, JourneyLite, Honours Golf, Houston Dynamo, DHA Advantage, Kolache Mama, Noel Furniture, Renaissance Health Systems, and Obesity Surgery Specialists. As an agency, STANANDLOU is known for using viral marketing techniques, social media and interactive to attain marketing goals for clients.

In May 2007 the agency created a high profile outdoor campaign for Buc-ee's, a travel stop chain in Texas. The fun, unexpected, irreverent headlines on the boards has made Buc-ee's a must-stop for travelers on Texas highways many times creating massive traffic jams at highway exits and lines leading into the parking lot.

"Buc-ee's Fanatics" and other like-minded fans have created hundreds of fan clubs and groups on social media including Facebook, Flickr, YouTube and Twitter. As of November 1, 2009, fans to the Buc-ee's Facebook group exceeded 75,000.

On November 4, 2009, Charles Gibson of ABC News and World News Tonight aired a special segment about Buc-ee's and the outdoor boards STANANDLOU produced inviting travelers to visit Buc-ee's with headlines such as, "Only 252 miles to Buc-ee's. You can hold it."
