Solvent extraction and electrowinning (SX/EW) is a two-stage metallurgy process that first extracts and upgrades copper ions from low-grade leach solutions into a concentrated electrolyte (Solvent extraction), and then deposits pure copper onto cathodes using an electrolytic procedure (electrowinning).
