Sabana Grande (Spanish pronunciation: [saˈβana ˈɣɾande]) is a municipality of Puerto Rico located north of Lajas and Guánica; south of Maricao; east of San Germán; and west of Yauco. Sabana Grande is spread over seven wards and Sabana Grande Pueblo (The downtown area and the administrative center of the city). It is part of the San Germán-Cabo Rojo Metropolitan Statistical Area.

The municipality of Sabana Grande (Spanish for Great Savannah) was founded in 1813 by Pedro de Acosta, it is known in Spanish as "El Pueblo de los Prodigios" which translates to "The Town of Marvels.

The Sabana Grande flag has four alternate quarters in green and yellow. In the center it has the municipal shield.
[edit] Coat of arms
The rake and the shovel represent San Isidro Labrador, also patron of Madrid. The jug symbolizes the domestic tasks of Santa María de la Cabeza, San Isidro's wife. Towards the center we find a palm leaf symbol of a typical industry of this town. In the superior part is a crown with three towers. The shield contains the traditional colors of our town: gold and green. Finally, the motto of the read shield reads: Pueblo de los Prodigios (Town of Prodigies).
