Salaya is a city and a municipality in Jamnagar district in the Indian state of Gujarat.

Salaya is located at 22°19′N 69°36′E / 22.32°N 69.6°E[1]. It has an average elevation of 19 metres (62 feet).

As of 2001[update] India census[2], Salaya had a population of 26,908. Males constitute 50% of the population and females 50%. Salaya has an average literacy rate of 26%, lower than the national average of 59.5%: male literacy is 36%, and female literacy is 17%. In Salaya, 19% of the population is under 6 years of age. The population mostly consisted of Vaghers following Muslim Religion. Other communities are also there, but the town is dominated by Vagher.
Salaya is famous for traditional business related to sailing vessel trade. Here most of the population is connected with sailing vessel trade, it may be commercial trips or building the vessels. The sailing vessels making trip from Indian coast to Pakistan, Gulf countries and African countries. The vessels being built here are mostly of dhow type.
