Salem (Stylized as SALEM) is a US-midwest band from Traverse City and Chicago, composed of John Holland, Heather Marlatt, and Jack Donoghue.[1][2] The band's debut release, Yes I Smoke Crack, was released on Acéphale in summer 2008 - the EP, gaining fast popularity, sold out in pre-sales.[3] Salem formed in Chicago in 2006, two years before the release of their first official EP. In an interview with Butt Magazine, John stated that his band mates convinced him to make music.[4] Their single "Asia" was featured in the 5th season of the popular British series Skins. In 2010, the band released its first LP, King Night, on IAMSOUND Records. For its Spring/Summer 2011 runway collection, Parisian fashion house Givenchy used the band's song "King Night" to open and close the runway show, selected by Riccardo Tisci. [5]
