Salty Dog Surf Shops is a chain of stores situated in Daytona Beach, Florida (with the exception of the Panama City Beach, Florida Location) specializing in surfboards, beach wear, and accessories. All the locations tend to focus on a certain type of product, for example one location could specialize in Surfboards, Skateboards, and other types of boards while another location will focus more towards Clothing, Housewares, and other souvenirs.
Bruce Miller first opened Salty Dog out of the trunk of his car selling t-shirts in November 1979. The first store to be opened was the International Speedway Blvd. location, in 1984 the other stores were built. The high point of sales for the franchise was in the mid 80's early 90's due to the MTV Spring Break crowd. Most of the business today comes from previous generations.
There are five Salty Dog locations four of which are in Daytona Beach:
- 100 S. Atlantic Ave. Daytona Beach, Florida
- 700 East International Speedway Blvd. Daytona Beach, Florida
- 2429 N. Atlantic Ave. Daytona Beach, Florida
