The Samsung HL-R5688W is a 56 inch (diagonal) digital light processing (DLP) projection TV manufactured by Samsung. It is a high-definition television (HDTV) with an aspect ratio of 16:9 and an advertised maximum display resolution of 1080p. This model began shipping after April 2005. It was the first 56 inch 1080p HDTV that Samsung released. It featured a screen and speakers set atop of an integrated pedestal that contained the electronics and projection apparatus.
Note: When video signal is applied via the VGA and HDMI inputs the TV may display some degree of overscan or Underscan depending on the source device, resolution, and input connector. This indicates that the TV is performing additional processing to adapt/render the input display resolution to its native display resolutions of 720p and 1080p.
