San Leonardo (Slovene: Šentlenart, or also Podutana) is a comune (municipality) in the Province of Udine in the Italian region Friuli-Venezia Giulia, located about 60 km northwest of Trieste and about 25 km east of Udine. As of 31 December 2004, it had a population of 1,215 and an area of 27.0 km².[1] According to the census 1971 85,5% of the population are Slovenes.
San Leonardo borders the following municipalities: Grimacco, Prepotto, San Pietro al Natisone, Savogna di Cividale, Stregna.
San Leonardo is the birthplace of the musician Edi Bucovaz, founder of the Slovene popular music band Beneški fantje, and of the conservative politician Luigi Faidutti, political leader of the Friulians in the Austro-Hungarian Monarchy.
