San Rafael is a municipality located in the north zone in the State of Veracruz, about 175 km from state capital Xalapa. It has a surface of 291.14 km2. It is located at 20°11′N 96°51′W / 20.183°N 96.85°W.

The municipality of San Rafael is bordered to the north and north-east by Tecolutla, to the west by Martínez de la Torre, to the south by Misantla and to the south-east by Nautla [1].

It produces principally orange fruit, lemon, banana, sugarcane, maize, beans and vanilla.
[edit] Celebrations
Every October, a festival is held to celebrate San Rafael, patron of the town and in December there is a festival held in honor of the Virgin of Guadalupe.

The climate in San Rafael is warm-humid with an average temperature of 35°C in summer and 18°C in winter, with rains in summer and autumn.
