Sant Kavi Jagjivan Das

Sant Kavi Jagjivan Das (or Jagiwan Das,[1] 1727 Sardaha,[2] Chas - 1761)[1] is the founder of the Satnami Hindu sect[2] of Upper India.[1]

Das was born on the banks of the Ghaghra River at the village of Sardaha.[2] However, he made Kotwa his spiritual and literary birth place and meditorium.[2] He founded the Satnaami sect, popularly known as Kotwa Dham, 6km southeast of Kotwa in Badosarai)[3] Leading a family life, Sant Kavi Jagjivan Das proved to be a great saint and literary genius.[2] To his credit are more than a dozen literary creations, which have enriched the heritage of Hindi literature.[2]
