L'Esquirol (prior to June 4, 2014 known as, Santa Maria de Corcó) is a municipality in the comarca of Osona in Catalonia, Spain. The village was historically known as L'Esquirol, the place of origin of the House of Cabrera but was changed during Franco times to Santa Maria de Corcó. On June 4, 2014, they have officially changed the name back to the original L'Esquirol which literally means, "squirrel" in Catalan.
