She has graduated the Stratford High School in Houston, Texas, and then the University of Miami in 2004. She holds a bachelors degree in music. She has also studied voice and dance in Oberaudorf, Germany.[1]
Her first CD, Gardening from the Ground Up Part 1, was released on December 2, 2008. It is being released under a Creative Commons - attribution, non-commercial, share-alike license. She founded Studio Sarah Records and Studio Sarah Music Publishing on July 7, 2008.
Foster performs with her band in New York City, where she has lived since 2005. Formed soon after the completion of her first album, Foster's band includes Kenji Shinagawa on guitar and harmonica, Caleigh Drane on cello and Nancy Gort on viola.
She is a keen environmentalist, her label is "eco-friendly", printing CD covers on recycled paper, and donating portion of her sales to the 1% For The Planet foundation.[3]
