Sass Somekh

Sass Somekh was born in 1946 in Iraq and moved to Israel at a very young age. Sass completed his first degree in Israel, and his Masters and Ph.D in Electrical Engineering from California Institute of Technology.[1]
Sass began his career with Bell Labs and stayed with them for five years. After which he joined Intel in 1978. Sass then joined Applied Materials in 1980. Sass Somekh introduced many successful product lines at Applied Materials. After 23 years with Applied Materials, Sass joined Novellus as the President. He retired as President in Jan. 2007.
Saas Somekh holds more than 50 U.S. patents. In 1994 Sass received the Semiconductor Equipment and Materials Institute’s SEMI Lifetime Achievement Award in recognition of his many contributions to the industry.
