Sayabec is a Canadian municipality located in the La Matapédia Regional County Municipality in the Bas-Saint-Laurent region in the eastern part of the province of Quebec. It was formed in 1982 through the merger of the Parish Municipality of Sainte-Marie-de-Sayabec and the Village Municipality of Sayabec.
The town sits within the Appalachian mountain chain which travels throughout most of southeastern Quebec close the Maine and New Brunswick borders, although the municipality is located inside a small valley called the Matapedia Valley inside the mountain range. Water sources includes the Matapedia Lake, the Blanche River and the Sayabec River.
The territory was historically occupied by Micmacs First Nation groups which occupied much of the Gaspe Peninsula.
The municipality's main transportation link is Quebec Route 132 which loops around the Gaspe Peninsula back towards the Mont-Joli area northwest of Sayabec. It is also located along the Canadian National Railway (originally the Intercolonial Railway).
