The Sea Islands series (codename for the Radeon HD 8000 series) is a family of computer GPUs developed by AMD. AMD was initially rumoured to release the family in the second quarter of 2013,[1][2][3] with the cards manufactured on a 28 nm process and making use of the improved Graphics Core Next 2.0 architecture.[4] However the 8000 series turned out to be an OEM rebadge of the 7000 series rather than a true GCN2.0-based successor (although, some of the chips—Oland, Bonaire, etc.—are of newer developments). The new 28 nm GCN 1.1 successor was instead to be launched as the Radeon HD 9000 Series (later renamed to the Radeon Rx 200 Series), released in October 2013.[5]

Solar System (HD 8xxxM) series[edit]
