[edit] Early years
Sebastian Ciceri grew up in a musical family. At the age of 14, he took up the electric bass. This eventually led him to play with many groups in the Los Angeles area in the early 90's. His primary bass at that time was a Fender Jazz 5 string.
In 1994, Ciceri joined Los Angeles band Getting Red who released their debut EP, Otis that same year through the independent label Bilawn Records. A strong fan base followed and Getting Red became headlining favorites in clubs like The Troubadour, The Dragonfly and Coconut Teazer. After two years, Sebastian left the band to pursue education in digital hard disk recording and mastering techniques.
[edit] Portable (1999–2003)
In 1999, Sebastian Ciceri accepted an invitation to join as permanent bassist with Los Angeles band Portable. The four piece signed on with New York based label TVT Records. Portable completed successful East and West coast tours in support of the band's debut album Secret Life. After a small break in the summer of 2000, writing resumed in preparation for Portable's second full length follow-up.
Only If You Look Up took nearly a year to complete. The album was produced by Brad Wood (Liz Phair, Smashing Pumpkins) and mixed by Tim Palmer (U2). OIYLU was released to the world on April 9, 2002, it earned excellent reviews at the time of its release. The single "Roll Over and Play Dead" is featured in the 2002 Motion Picture release and soundtrack for Swimfan.
Portable recorded Starsongs in the fall of 2003. It was released independent of TVT Records for legal reasons and would be the band's final album together. The band would then go on permanent hiatus that winter. Sebastian Ciceri played the Ernie Ball Music Man Stingray at this time as his primary recording and performance bass.
[edit] Music Licensing (2004–2006)
After his work with Portable, Sebastian Ciceri has continued to grow as a versatile music composer able to switch between musical genres and styles. He has produced original music for media branding companies like Imaginary Forces, Verb! Media and Herman Miller.
