Segue (pronounced SEG-way) is a San Francisco Bay Area-based rock band. Formed in January 1994, in San Rafael, California, Segue blends rock ‘n’ roll with blues, pop, country and funk. They have adopted the sounds of artists such as The Black Keys, R.L. Burnside, The Mother Hips, Creedence Clearwater Revival, The Black Crowes, and others.

The band’s debut album Segue was released on Trip ‘n Spin Recordings in 1998. The single “Move On” was featured on San Francisco radio station 104.5 FM – KFOG.

The second album Escape Without Injury was released on Seguesounds Records in August 2002. The single “Hot Tonight” is featured in the Second Set Media film Ripple Effect, released in 2001. The film contains footage of the best pro surfers in the world competing at the Quiksilver Pro Surf Contest in Tahiti. The song is played during the film’s final and most climactic pipeline scene.

The third album Live – Under the Covers was released in July 2004 for promotional use only, and captures Segue performing live at the Red Devil Lounge in San Francisco and Sweetwater in Mill Valley.

[edit] Gable Heart Beats Foundation

On September 17, 2009, Michael Gable died unexpectedly at the age of 38, from the heart disease known as Hypertrophic Cardiomyopathy, or HCM, an excessive thickening of the heart muscle. Two weeks later, his young daughter Grace was subsequently diagnosed with Cardiomyopathy and spent her first birthday fighting for her life. Cardiomyopathy is a chronic and potentially life threatening disease of the heart that affects 1 out of 100,000 children. HCM is the #1 cause of sudden cardiac arrests in young athletes.

[edit] Our Vision

The Gable Heart Beats Foundation 501(c)(3) was started in the Spring of 2010 with the vision to build a philanthropic network which provides support for families affected by cardiomyopathy and other forms of heart disease.

[edit] Mission

The Gable Heart Beats Foundation raises money to support our Heart Beats Community with a variety of programs dedicated to:

  • family support, education and therapy
  • the promotion of heart health
  • medical research and technology

[edit] Michael Gable's Story

Michael grew up in the small town of Monroe, WA, just north of Seattle. He received a full athletic scholarship to Saint Mary’s College of California. It was there that he met the love of his life, Michelle, who would later become his wife and the mother of their two children, Matteo and Grace.

Throughout his life, Michael strove to break down all racial barriers and create a better world for his family. He lived each moment with love and gratitude. In 1996, Michael joined Segue and used his lyrics as a way to spread his beliefs about the equality of ALL human kind. Michael developed a reputation within the music community as an accomplished singer and songwriter.

The remaining band members are releasing an album featuring Michael’s songs entitled, “One Race Human.” All proceeds from “One Race Human” will be donated to the Gable Heart Beats Foundation.
