The Shahpuri is a dialect of Punjabi language, named due to the former district of Shahpur, which later was dissolved in to Sargodha and Khushab districts . This dialect has been spoken by the people of District Sargodha including Dera Chanpeer Shah, Khushab,Mianwali,Bhakker, Jhang, parts of Faisalabad (formerly Lyallpur), Chakwal and Mandi Bahauddin districts. This dialect is very much closer to Majhi with some features of Pothohari and northern Saraiki dialects. Shahpurias in Mianwali and Bhakker speak this dialect in a more Thalochi tone while those in southern parts of Sargodha district have color of Jhangochi on their language.[1]
