Coordinates: 31°57′49″N 44°35′56″E / 31.96361°N 44.59889°E Al Shamia(Arabic: الشامية) is a town in Al Qadisyah Governorate of Iraq
Shamia is also the name of a ferry in Bangladesh that sunk in Meghna River with around 600 people dead in the worst ferry disaster of the country.
Shamia is the Arabic word for Popcorn.
