Shamsuddin Effendi

Shamsuddin Abdulmecid Effendi was a guide in the Uşşaki branch of the Khalwati order of Sufism. His grandfather came to Istanbul to serve the court of Sultan Abdul Hamid II, where he became a student of Ziyauddin Ahmed Gumushanevi. Shamsuddin Effendi was a deputy of the prominent Uşşaki guide Abdur Rahman Sami, and a student of Muhammad Zahid al-Kawthari and Ahmed Sharif as-Senussi. He was born in Istanbul at the turn of the century and died in 1986 in Diyarbakır.
