The Shandong Peninsula is a peninsula in Shandong province in eastern China, between the Bohai Sea and Huanghai Sea (Yellow Sea).[1]

The Shandong peninsula formed part of the German concessions in China from 1898 to 1914. During World War I, Japan captured the city of Qingdao (previously held by Germany) on the peninsula in November 1914; Japan had declared war on Germany (August 1914) in terms of the Anglo-Japanese Alliance of 1902.[citation needed]
