Simply Sean
Simply Sean was a radio show that aired weekly on CBC Radio One's summer season in the early 2000s hosted by comedian Sean Cullen. It ran every Saturday morning for an hour starting at 10am (10:30am in Newfoundland) featuring songs chosen by Cullen interspersed by his own offbeat observations. The show began as a summer replacement series in 2005 and was being produced for every summer since.
Each show featured a segment focusing on a topic ripe for Cullen's comedic talents to riff on, including "James Bond", "Saturday Morning Cartoons", and "songs by Star Trek stars". Typical music selections included the likes of The Tragically Hip, Weakerthans, Tom Waits, and R.E.M..
The first season of the show ran for a total of 10 episodes, lasting well into the duration of the CBC lockout of 2005. All of the shows were pre-recorded prior to the lockout, and the series ended at the conclusion of its summer run.
