Sirai Chaalai is a Tamil feature film directed by Priyadarshan. It is was originally shot in Malayalam as Kalapani and dubbed into Tamil. The film stars Mohanlal, Prabhu Ganesan, Vineeth, Amrish Puri and Tabu in the lead roles The film's name is derived from and based on the mode of imprisonment in British India. The film was made to mark the 50th anniversary of India's independence. The film was dubbed in Telugu as Kalaipani and in Hindi as Saza-E-Kala Pani. It was also dubbed into German, English, and Bengali.

Story is about the sufferings of a young man, Govardhan(played by Mohanlal) who is wrongly accused of being an extremist freedom fighter and is then jailed in a cellular jail at Port Blair, Andaman and Nicobar Islands by the British. The film also show the cruelties inflicted by British officials on British India.

Half the film's dialogues are in multiple languages: Hindi, English, Malayalam, Tamil, Bengali, and German. The other half is entirely in one language (originally in Malayalam), but dubbed to Hindi, Tamil and Telugu.

The title in each languages is Kalapani (Malayalam), Saza-E-Kala Pani (Hindi), Sirai Chaalai (Tamil), and Kalapani (Telugu.)
