[edit] Story

The game differs from the film in that the plot and theme were changed. The film was set in the real world, while the game was set a fictional 'fantasy' world where the Commando Elite were trying to eliminate the Gorgonites and destroy their home. Most of the characters in the film were in the game, along with the addition of two new Gorgonites, Stench and Nibble. Players took the role of Archer, as he battled against the Commando Elite, led by Chip Hazard.

[edit] Soundtrack

The soundtrack for the Small Soldiers video game was composed by Michael Giacchino.

[edit] Gameplay

[edit] Singleplayer

Players are equipped with a rapid-fire crossbow, which can receive new ammunition type, which has various accuracies and strengths. Players can also use turrets and battle-walkers. These are hard to be damaged and can deal serious damage on enemies. Players can also rescue fellow Gorgonites like Insaniac, who will attack nearby Commandos.

[edit] Multiplayer

In multiplayer mode players can play as either Archer, or as Chip. The gameplay is the same as singleplayer, only without allies and enemies. For Chip his default weapon is a rapid-fire pistol, which can also receive new ammo types.

[edit] Critical reception

According to GameSpot, the game received a score of 4.7 (poor), as based on 147 votes User Score it received 6.4, while based on 4 critic reviews, it received 6.0.

[edit] Small Soldiers: Squad Commander

The PC version of the game was instead a strategy game. You control a small squad of either Gorgonites or Commandos in objective-based scenarios. The gameplay is much like micro-managing in a typical RTS. It was published by Hasbro Interactive, but is also developed by DreamWorks Interactive.

[edit] Small Soldiers: Globotech Design Lab

Another version of the game was released by Hasbro Interactive. It was developed by EAI Interactive.
