Sodražica (German: Soderschitz)[2] is a town in southern Slovenia. It is the seat of the Municipality of Sodražica. It is part of the traditional region of Lower Carniola and is now included in the Southeast Slovenia statistical region. The municipality was created in 1998. Before this it was part of the Municipality of Ribnica.[3]
The parish church in the settlement is dedicated to Mary Magdalene and belongs to the Roman Catholic Archdiocese of Ljubljana. It was built in the mid 18th century on the site of an earlier chapel dedicated to Saint Nicholas. It was renovated in 1836 and extended in 1928. One of the altars in the church was designed by the architect Ivan Vurnik.[4]
