Solange Dimitrios is a fictional character from Ian Fleming's James Bond short story "007 in New York." She is James Bond's girlfriend with whom he spends time while in the city.
The name "Solange Dimitrios" was then used in the 2006 adaptation of Casino Royale for the character played by Caterina Murino.
[edit] Short story biography
Due to its brief length, the original "007 in New York" short story reveals next to nothing about Solange's background, other than her relationship with Bond.
Bond also fantasizes about meeting a girl that he would call "Solange" in the short story "From a View To A Kill".
[edit] Film biography
In the 2006 film, Bond first meets Solange Dimitrios when she is accompanying her husband - Alex Dimitrios. Later, Bond offers Solange a ride back to his rented villa for a drink after he wins Dimitrios' Aston Martin DB5 at the poker table. She accepts and the two plan to spend the night together. However, Solange receives a phone call from her husband, which serves to inform Bond that Dimitrios will be taking the last flight to Miami. Bond decides to follow him but does not tell Solange, instead ordering some Bollinger and caviar up to their room as a parting gift before he leaves while she awaits him in the bedroom.
After Bond thwarts the terrorist plot in Miami, Dimitrios' boss Le Chiffre, deduces that Solange informed Bond. Bond returns to find her tortured, killed, and wrapped in a hammock on the beach.
