[edit] Plot
The story lines are set over a four-year period showing Sophie as she grows older. Over the six books she acquires various pets, including a Cat(Tomboy), Dog(Puddle) and Rabbit(Beano) and last a pony(Lucky), she starts school and goes on family holidays and has riding lessons. She is constantly supported throughout the books on her ambition to become a 'Lady Farmer' by her family, and save up farm money, so that, as she one day hopes, can purchase a farm. During the Sophie's Lucky, the last book, after her great great Aunt Alice dies, she gets a farm in the Scottish Highlands as her eventual inheritance from her.
[edit] Characters
The main character is Sophie, who loves animals and is determined that she's going to be a lady farmer when she grows up. Sophie's family who appear in the stories are her father, mother and her older twin brothers Matthew and Mark. There is also her great great Aunt Alice, who Sophie's affectionately calls 'Aunt Al' who lives in the Scottish Highlands, and is one of Sophie's greatest friends throughout stories. Other characters she comes frequently into contact with are Dawn and Andrew. Dawn is a pretty little girl who is opposite to Sophie in looks and nature, and is Sophie's arch-enemy after their first encounter. Andrew is a farmer’s son and obediently agrees with and does most things Sophie tells him to do.
