Soul Train Cruise

The Soul Train Cruise is a cruise-based revival of the show Soul Train. It is centered on the performance of classic rhythm and blues music. The full-charter cruises are aboard Holland America vessels; the most recent sailings have been on ships with a capacity of 2,000 passengers. The 2014 cruise features sixteen musical acts, including Maze featuring Frankie Beverly, Gladys Knight, James Ingram, and KC & The Sunshine Band. It is one of the largest recent assemblies of artists in this music genre. The Soul Train Cruise is produced by Entertainment Cruise Productions (ECP) in cooperation with StarVista Time-Life and Centric.[1]


The fourth cruise will sail from Fort Lauderdale, USA from February 22-March 1, 2015. It will visit the Turks & Caicos, Puerto Rico, the U.S. Virgin Islands, and Half Moon Cay in the Bahamas.[2]


For the 2015 cruise, the performers will include Maze featuring Frankie Beverly, Gladys Knight, James Ingram, KC & the Sunshine Band, Russell Thompkins Jr. and the New Stylistics, Harold Melvin’s Blue Notes, Regina Belle, original 5th Dimension stars Marilyn McCoo & Billy Davis Jr., Valerie Simpson of Ashford & Simpson, Wil Hart of the original Delfonics, Hitzville: Vegas Style Motown Revue, DW3, and Rudy Currence. The program is hosted by Tony Cornelius, and co-hosted by Julie Smith. It also features comedian Alonzo Bodden, MC Doug E. Fresh, and original Soul Train Dancers Cheryl Song & Derek Fleming. The cruise is accompanied by influential Chicago music retailer and expert George Daniels.[3]


The first cruise sailed February 17-24, 2013 from Fort Lauderdale, USA to Turks & Caicos, Puerto Rico, the U.S. Virgin Islands and the Bahamas,[4] aboard the M/S Westerdam. Artists on the cruise were Patti LaBelle, The O'Jays, Kool & the Gang, Jeffrey Osborne, War, The Spinners, Jody Watley, Harold Melvin's Blue Notes, Russell Thompkins Jr. & The New Stylistics, Cuba Gooding & The Main Ingredient, Gerald Alston of The Manhattans, The Intruders, George Duke, Alonzo Bodden, Biz Markie, DW3, Jackiem Joyner, Bridgette Bryant, Joey Diggs and Shannon Pearson.

The second cruise sailed October 5-12, 2013 from San Diego, United States|USA with stops in Cabo San Lucas and Puerto Vallarta, Mexico,[5] also aboard the Westerdam. Artists included Earth, Wind & Fire, Gladys Knight, Jeffrey Osborne, The Whispers, Freddie Jackson, Ohio Players, Jennifer Holliday, Billy Paul, Con Funk Shun, Regina Belle, The Bar-Kays, Dazz Band, Mary Jane Girls, The Original Lakeside, A Taste of Honey featuring Janice Marie, DW3, Alonzo Bodden and Biz Markie.

The third cruise sailed February 23-March 2, 2014, from Fort Lauderdale, making port in St. Maarten and St. Barts. For the first time, a Soul Train Cruise was held on the M/S Eurodam. The artists were Isley Brothers featuring Ronald & Ernest Isley, Charlie Wilson, Roberta Flack, Jeffrey Osborne, The Commodores, Stephanie Mills, Peabo Bryson, Morris Day & The Time, The Manhattans featuring Gerald Alston & Blue Lovett, Maxi Priest, The Chi-Lites featuring Marshall Thompson, Honey Cone featuring Edna Wright, Ray, Goodman & Brown, formerly The Moments, Blue Magic featuring Ted Mills, Peaches & Herb, DW3, Alonzo Bodden and Biz Markie.
