Sousel (Portuguese pronunciation: [sowˈzɛɫ]) is a municipality in Portugal with a total area of 279.4 km² and a total population of 5,579 inhabitants.
The municipality is famous for its olive trees and as a great hunting region.
The Calça e Pina family was the main developer of Sousel in the 18th century. The economy is mainly based on agriculture, but tourism plays a major role in the region's economy as well.
The municipality is composed of four parishes, and is located in the District of Portalegre.
The present Mayor is Armando Mendonça Varela, elected by the Social Democratic Party.
The municipal holiday is Easter Monday.
