The South Coast Beacon was a weekly community newspaper in Santa Barbara County. Founded in June 2002, the paper focused on in-depth local reporting. The Beacon reached a circulation of 20,000 and received a first place award for general excellence by the California Newspaper Publishers Association before ceasing publication in July 2005 due to lack of funds.
