Southside, Memphis

Southside, is a subdistrict located in South Memphis, Tennessee. It is a largely unpopulated area, and contains a notable amount slums and abandoned buildings, many of which were left behind when Memphis underwent massive white flight. In early 2002, police attempted to combat squatters in the area, by boarding up empty buildings, and demolishing the old South Side High School building.
